Eligibility Criteria for the University of Tokyo ADB Scholarship Program 2025-26

• Applicants must be from the member countries of the Asian Development Bank ADB.
• Candidates must complete their Bachelor’s degree.
• This program encourages students with superior academic records with leadership qualities.  
• At the time of application, students must have a minimum of 2 years of work experience after graduation. Candidates must not be older than 35 years at the time of application. However, in some fields, students have an age extension of up to 45 years.
• International students must return to their homeland after the completion of their Master’s studies.
• Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree at the time of application for Master’s studies from an accredited educational institution comparable to the University of Tokyo.
• Application for a second Master’s degree is not allowed to apply for ADB-JSP. Applicants must not have a Master’s degree under the ADB-JSP application. 

University of Tokyo Scholarship 2025-26 | Application Process

• Application for the University of Tokyo ADB scholarship program is online.
• The whole application process for the Asian Development Bank Japan Scholarship program is divided into 5 steps at GSFS.
• First, candidates have to check their eligibility criteria for their respective academic programs.
• They have to submit and upload all the required material before a specific deadline.
• The University of Tokyo will verify the documents and qualifications of foreign students from December to February.
• GSFS will announce the list of selected candidates with verified documents. Then these students have to fill out the required documents.
• Notice of final selection will be announced in May 2025 by ADB-JSP.
• Applicants have to find a supervisor in the fields of Environmental Studies or GPSS-GLI before starting to fill out the application form.
• However, if applicants cannot find a supervisor before the deadline or the supervisor will not respond to them, they still can submit the application form.  
• Candidates have to provide a list of five preferable supervisors.
• Ensure the availability of all required documents and fill out the application form carefully.
• Provide only valid and verified data.
• Students have to first apply for an ADB scholarship. Once they are selected for the scholarship, they have to apply to the University of Tokyo to be admitted to relevant academic fields.
• Applicants have to submit letters of recommendation directly to the International Liaison Office from the recommenders via email before the deadline. This email must be with the title of ‘’ADB Recommendation Letter Name (Candidate Name)’’.
• After 10 December 2024, the selection committee will announce the result.
• Selected applicants have to submit the original copies of their required documents.
• Students have to enroll for relevant course studies at GSFS for the autumn semester in October 2025.
